These were opportunities for some drama and intrigue, or at the very least building some real emotional and relationship ties between two characters who lusted after each other, saw some very good in one another, but also had every reason to distrust their prospective partner. Repeatedly flying through huge potential conflicting issues with a quick, trusting sentence or two just made whole aspects of the plot and relationship rather flat and unappealing.
