Another book I needed to finish, and I’m glad I finally did because it, too, was one I needed reminding of – that there are decent people out there working for the collective good of those oppressed, discriminated against and abused…simply because it’s the right thing to do. Even if this is fiction set in an alternate universe/future timeline.
Roman’s got a big problem. To become the Alpha of the Manhattan pack, he will need an heir. When he meets Dallas in a chance encounter, an accident causes his guilt to drive him to protect the new wolf at all costs. Little does Roman know the new wolf is an Omega; a rare wolf that could change the fate of the Alpha to be.
“Maybe we should take him to the hospital,” Dean suggested. There would be drugs there to minimize the pain and they were better equipped in case something went wrong. Castiel gave him a doubtful look.
Alpha/Omega couples are the most biologically compatible and fertile couples. Betas are either infertile or less highly sexed. Usually, there is an element of soul bonding included in an Alpha/Omega coupling that Betas are incapable of achieving, and the bond is usually accomplished by a bite over a gland in the neck (because werewolves, remember?)

It wasn’t a surprise his personal servant Mithra had become impregnated at the start of that Spring, (Mithra had yet to escape a breeding season without becoming impregnated, his body longed by all as it were) and Adonis was taking advantage of the fact Mithra was his own personal servant and not another’s by making him hold his pregnancy for as long as he could manage, and enjoy the fruits of this lustrum’s
“MPREG, it’s not really a huge squick, but sometimes I wish we didn’t have to go there. We could just have male Omegas because why not, none of it makes sense anyhow so there doesn’t have to be any logic in having Omegas who don’t get pregnant. What I dislike more than MPREG though is infantilizing or feminizing omegas way too much.” (M, female, currently 95% straight, with past same sex relationship, 25-30, Finland)
Thematically, pregnancy can be similar to the issues of parasitism and gender. Some science fiction writers have picked up on these issues, in “cross-gender” themes—e.g., Octavia E. Butler’s Bloodchild and Other Stories.[clarification needed] Ursula K. Le Guin’s novel The Left Hand of Darkness contains the sentence “The king was pregnant”, and explores a society in which pregnancy can be experienced by anyone, since individuals are not sexually differentiated during most of their life and can become capable of inseminating or gestating at different times. Lois McMaster Bujold’s Ethan of Athos features an all-male society in which men use artificial wombs, but experience many of the psychological effects of pregnancy (anticipation, anxiety, etc.). In Marge Piercy’s feminist utopian novel Woman on the Edge of Time, neither men nor women get pregnant, leaving that to artificial wombs, but both sexes may lactate and nurse the infant; the specifically female experiences of pregnancy and nursing were opened to men in the cause of gender equality.
“Fine, fine! I’m not going to hurt him, I’m going to help.” Castiel stared at Dean with his head cocked, contemplating the sincerity of Dean’s words; Dean wanted to punch the angel for getting between Dean and his family. Finally, Castiel moved out of the way and went to crouch between Sam’s legs to check the progress. Dean kneeled by Sam’s head and wiped away tears and sweat with his hands.
And then one night Cas gets tired of waiting for Dean to admit it and scootches over next to Dean in bed and asks, “Do you want another baby?” and immediately Dean’s on the defensive like “No why would I want to carry around another freaking bowling ball for nine months”

The angel stayed seated in the same spot and thought over what the younger Winchester had said. If he was being honest a deep part of him and wished that Dean would be willing to have a family with him. Castiel had long ago accepted his feelings and knew that if Dean were his mate he would be happy for the rest of eternity. But, he also knew that Dean would never feel the same way he did, and why would he when he was so brave and bright and Castiel was nothing but a failure of an angel?
