Review: The genre of an “abused/tortured” Omega being rescued by hunky Alphas is one of my favorites, and this book has some nicely satisfying elements of this type of “Prince Charming” (or, in this case, Charming Princes) tale. The characters were nicely diversified, the emotions (good and bad) had some resonance, and despite a type of “fated mate” trope there were definitely some twists, turns, and potentially insurmountable obstacles in the story and the relationship.
Now this was what I call a GREAT shifter , mpreg, alpha & omega m/m ROMANCE with a believable and exciting story line. Derrick the introverted, moody music teacher as the omega wolf shifter and Rowan our motorcycle riding, leather jacket wearing “bad boy,” the alpha were perfect together when they “finally” got together BUT that what made this book by author Preston Walker so incredibly good…the anticipation, mutual desire and just plain old fashioned courtship that lead to one of the most amazing romantic climaxes I have read in recent memory. Part of the lure of Derrick and Rowan for me was that Derrick, the omega was five years old than Rowan, the very macho alpha male only adding to the intrigue of their attraction to each other. Seeing how Mr. Walker worked his magic with his words as both Derrick & Rowan changed for the best and came to understand not only each other but also themselves just added to the appeal of their relationship together. Plus and a big plus it is…the actual plot of the book was so exciting and more importantly for me believable. In any book where you have either (or both) male pregnancy and [wolf] shifters an author must integrate both of these “fantasy” aspects into a realistic plot and Mr. Walker made all the pieces come together perfectly where EVERYTHING made sense and easy to follow. Simply put this was one of the best books in this genre I have ever read plus Derricks love of everything “music” was just lovely and poetic.
“What the hell’s with all the racket?” came a voice from outside. Demoman popped his head round the door, only for his eye widen at what he saw. Spy lowered his head in shame. Sniper however, couldn’t be more relieved at this point.

This was an emotional story. Braun has pretty much lived his life in fear of his first heat because that would mean he is then eligible for mating. His father’s death is a relief but then it send him into an even worse situation to contend with.
He lay there breathing heavily, his face was all red from exhausting himself with pushing, but what choice did he have? There was no way he could manage to call 911; what would he tell them? ‘Hi, I have been gaining a lot of weight these past couple months and now I’m in an extraordinary amount of pain – what should I do?’ He grunted under the wave of another contraction. His face contorted in pain and he rolled onto his side trying to escape it. “Motherff….gggg” he moaned and bit down on his lip pushing with whatever energy he could muster up. Whatever was done there moved somewhat so whatever was there was now resting against his prostate, “Ahhh,” he moaned, he felt his dick twitch – through the pain he hadn’t noticed himself getting really hard, “MmNNNHHGGG” the next shot of pain was a weird mix of pain and pleasure. He reached down and started to stroke himself, keeping his mind off the pain for a little why but it didn’t last long.
There is no single accepted set of ‘rules’ for stories written in the genre, but they usually includes strong themes of dominance and submission, and possessiveness. Most stories focus on Alphas bonding and mating with Omegas, and there is a strong use of the “soul mate” trope as well as the concept of sex (or mating) as a biological imperative. Some stories will build alternate societal and cultural traditions, while others insert the Omegaverse conventions into an otherwise ‘real world’ or canonical story story.
As a teenager you dream about your future with your love. You may end up with him or her when you are both older, but maybe not. Ash and River were separated while they were young and they remained loving each other in their heart. They did hope that someday they may reconnect. Well, they did, and they fought for each other and in the end they did win. These stories have great meaning because each one shows that if you struggle against adversity and fight YOU will always win with your loved ones.
The Alphas are the more aggressive ones out of everyone. They are the larger and stronger ones, the dominate ones in bed. They are the males or females pumped full of testosterone. The females would differently from the males though. While the males already have a penis, females don’t. Everything is different for the Alpha females. They have a small chance of getting pregnant at all, but they can impregnate. Where the female’s clitoris is, once she gets aroused, a retractable penis is there instead. Since she has a very small chance of actually conceiving a child, her womb would be smaller or not even there at all. In some verses, she does go through some stages in pregnancy to help her Omega. The hormones the Omega releases help the Alpha. The female Alphas already small breasts would grow so she could help feed the newborn child. For males, it is a bit different. Alpha males can’t have their breasts grow like the females, but they still help their Omega out. In almost all of the verses, there is a lot of semen being released. Some verses have knotting, which basically means the Alpha’s penis enlarges at the base to lock inside the Omega, giving them a better chance at breeding and producing offspring. All Alphas have larger penises and are the ones to fight over an Omega.
If u read Lynn Hagen’s Brac Pack u get to see the couples raising the children. Their stories are background but the great thing about her books are they still get mentioned and even get a little spot light now and then.
“It can’t happen yet, ahh, Cas, please, De—, ahh…!” Sam couldn’t say anything after that and kept screaming and trying to breathe at the same time. There was a small part of Dean, just a tiny part that was terrified for his brother; he fucking despised that feeling and felt his hatred for his brother grow.
”If you’re not going to make yourself useful,GET THE HELL OUT!” He screams before Grell runs out,Visibly upset. Sebastian snarls and gently slides the instrument inside Ciel,Hook first. He soon hits a squishy like object, and he moves the hook slightly,Ripping it open. The damage releases a burst of water,Sending it out of Ciel and all over the bed. Just then,Sebastian feels his own water break,Soaking his underwear and pants. His eyes go wide as he realizes he’s in labor,But puts it aside for the time being,Ignoring it best he can.
Biting his lip, he watched Eren take a few big breaths, before pushing down hard. The puddle of bodily fluids beneath his mate had soaked the towel some what disturbingly, but his attention was soon back on the baby
“Samuel, good morning. And yes I guess I’m a bit excited. Last night, I thought about what you said, and decided that you are right. There are no rules that say that I have to stay with the alpha once I’ve conceived. So I decided to follow you advice and I’m going to start looking for a ‘donor’ right away.” Castiel left the kitchen with the same smile on his face, and missed the growing look of horror in Sam’s face.
For Adelene (female, straight, 25-30, USA), the genre of Omegaverse shows how fandom, consciously or not, is dealing with “toxic hyper-masculinity, docile housewife, and people. It creates an interesting dynamic where you are in a way removing the stereotypes from genders and assigning them to a dynamic that is assigned based more on the personality of the character.” The infinite ways authors depict this, despite starting from the same framework, “gives you an insight into the many ways those stereotypes are perceived, reacted to, broken, and affect people both in fic and real life. I say real life as well since any writer draws from their own experiences and that always colors their writing.”
The story flow is good,no plot holes or loose ends unless they are to be build up for the sequel. The main character have an attraction but go slow so trust is built and the storyline flows naturally.
However, there’s a lot more to the beautiful omega than glitter and pom poms. Enough to leave Levi’s head spinning and wondering just what he’s going to do with the he can’t get his mind off of living under the same roof.
“I’m AFAB genderqueer, and I’ve always been incredibly uncomfortable with pregnancy and childbirth, to the point of feeling ill at ease around pregnant women and young babies, because so much of female gender and the idea of womanhood is wrapped up in pregnancy/motherhood, and the reverse as well, a pregnant body at this point in my culture will inevitably signify “female” to outsiders. As I get into the tail end of my potential reproductive years and start to reexamine my childfree-by-choice status, MPREG gives me an alternative POV, where reproduction is divorced from binary sex, some men have babies, some women have babies, some men impregnate, some women impregnate. I’ve seen criticism of MPREG saying “Why not just write trans characters instead” but for me that misses the point, trans people have babies right now, and that’s awesome and makes me super happy, but MPREG is like good sci fi, it’s utopian possibility, sex as irrelevant, gender as expression.” -Jay
