“Yaoi Okay Or Destiel Knotting Kink”

“Weird heterosexual sex dynamics are frequently replicated in Omegaverse. Some writers compare in-world prejudices (usually those about omegas) to real-world racism or homophobia, but they do it really carelessly and it ends up being rather racist or homophobic.” (Alice, female, queer/grey-asexual, 18-25, Canada)

Title: The Alpha King (Kingdom of Askara #1) Author: Victoria Sue Publisher: Self Published Release Date: January 26, 2017 Genre(s): Shifter Mpreg M/M Page Count: 215 Reviewed by: Susan Heat Level: 4 flames out of 5 Rating: 4 stars out of 5 Blurb: The Kingdom of Askara has been torn apart by conflict for centuries, where humans exist as subservient beings to their werewolf masters. Legend says it will only…

Omegas have gone missing over the past century, but that will not stop Emperor Drocco from finding his. He enlists the help of renowned historian, Cailyn, a strong-willed Beta female. She is not at all a suitable mate for an Emperor… but the longer he spends in her company, the more she stirs something within him like no other ever has.

Omegas are generally lowest on the hierarchy (although in some fanworks Omegas are rare and prized). Male Omegas are self-lubricating and have the ability to become pregnant, sometimes referred to as being bred or mated. Lovers may form pair-bonds with a special connection with telepathic or empathetic qualities. Paired Alphas may be jealous and possessive of their mate, while the Omega may become submissive. Omegas and Alphas may go into heat and need to have sex; this may be the only time Omegas are fertile.

In Super Bowl XLIX, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made one of the most controversial calls in football history: With 26 seconds remaining, and trailing by four at the Patriots’ one-yard line, he called for a pass instead of a handing off to his star running back. The pass was intercepted, and the Seahawks lost. Critics called it the dumbest play in history. But was the call really that bad? Or did Carroll actually make a great move that was ruined by bad luck? Even the best decision doesn’t yield the best outcome every time.

Lucifer noticed them and realized he was going to have to give the little boy up. He frowned as he walked over, staring into the blue eyes of the angel he held. The little boy smile and made a noise as he reached out a tiny hand to tug on one of Lucifer’s feathers.

After the Muppets split up, the Electric Mayhem tried to get gigs, which was pretty hard, and Lips decided to leave the band. Zoot, not wanting his lover to leave the band, which would render him single again, tried to talk Lips into staying, but this led to quite a few arguments and them breaking up. Zoot became really downhearted after Lips left and Floyd, Janice and Animal (This was before all the therapy stuff) assumed it was because they had become very close friends, but Dr. Teeth knew the truth.

“Simply put, mpreg. It’s not a squick for me, but I’m not crazy about it, and often short fics follow the cliché structure of they meet – they bond – they have sex – they have a baby. It’s a bit too Cinderella for me, too quick and not very satisfying, emotionally speaking. (…) Ah, and I’m also not sure I’m crazy about this trend I’ve seen around of calling the babies “pups” and such and using wolf/dog terminology. I see where it comes from, but I don’t really buy why a human omegaverse society would evolve like this.” (Lou, female, panromantic/grey-a, 18-25, France)

Except, things start to get weirder. After escaping, Peter is chased down by a rabid wolf, and Nitro pops out of nowhere to rescue him sporting fur, fangs and claws. As Peter witnesses the unimaginable, he realizes Nitro might be telling the truth about more than him being a shape-changing beast. Having been thrust into a mysterious and bizarre world, Peter is forced to rely on Nitro and something long buried inside Peter begins to awaken.

He gasped, looking over his shoulder to see his beloved mate climbing to her newly morphed legs and rushing over to him. “M-My love…! I-I… I can’t… I can’t push them out…!” He closed his eyes tight just as she knelt next to him, her hands coming to both rub his heavily swollen belly and his tired and sore back.

Another interesting fact is that, at it’s core, Slow Heat is a May/December romance. Vale is an omega in his mid-thirties while Jason is a 19 year-old alpha. I love when authors go against the stereotypes. In fact, there are quite a few examples of it in the book. Not only is Vale older but he is also a professor while Jason is just a student. This to me is a prime example of how and where roles come to play in their relationship. Another pair who do not fit the typical mold is Jason’s parents. There is something special about an alpha male that cooks.

The core and bones of a good story (the first, and main, story in the book which seems about 50 pages or so as it ends at 17% in) are there but they are hard to find through the strange progression, odd character actions, and completely unexplained world. It’s not PWP either (for which I am known to make exceptions to my standards). You have no sense of the dragon’s themselves and their characteristics (other than plumage which I just coul …more

Though Amy did have a very feminine body; she often tried to hide her wide hips and bust with baggy pants. Now, what this is is a scam to get you to enter a poetry competition. That’s how they get your e-mail. Then you get a very pretty letter saying how WONDERFUL your poem is, and recieve all sorts of offers to let these sods publish you, for free. BUT IT ISN’T FREE. To obtain a copy of this publication (of which they do about 60 a year), in which your poem is stuffed in with thousands of others (you even have to PAY to have your poem printed on its own page) you have to spend BIG. Then they hit you with “opportunites” to buy a whole stack of other products, and even go to conferences. Now, I have read reports about these conferences and they, too, are a horrible rip-of

Omegaverse is really a fascinating fandom invention. 50% of it is totally problematic and reinforcing a lot of fucked up patriarchal, rape culture values. The other 50% is some of the most insightful, subversive social commentary I’ve ever read on gender identity/gender roles/queer oppression.[10]

Finally, if you aren’t a fanfic reader, you might not be familiar with the “tone” designations. Both fluff and hurt/comfort made the top 10. The former is a story that’s focused on cheerful, happy topics; the latter involves one of the characters in your favorite ship being hurt, and the other comforting them. This situation sometimes, but not leads to sex.

Omegas’ bodies change on their eighteenth birthday, and the first full moon after adulthood turned Richie, Shea’s Beta companion, wild. Their future uncertain, Richie, a man with more secrets than straight thoughts, has a plan that’ll either get them killed or set them free.

I’m squicked out by the power dynamics. I don’t want my beloved characters part of a world with dubiously consensual sex, oppression and discrimination on the basis of their gender, intensely strengthened gender norms, being made helpless with undesired child bearing and being a prisoner of their biology. It feels too much like choosing to roll around in the nastier bits of historical (and current) discrimination against women.” (aaa, female, straight-ish, 25-30, Australia)

In DC Comics canon Kon-El gets half his genes from Clark Kent and half from Lex Luthor. This leads to some Smallville Clex fic where he is the result of mpreg rather than laboratory experiments. Pinky and the Brain from Animaniacs also have a genetic son together.
